Muaythai World Champion
At the World Boxing Council’s Muaythai World Festival 2024, Dainton Evans, of Llanhilleth and representing Wales, became World Champion in the 14-15 years of age, under 52 kg category.
Attracting more than 600 competitors from over 60 countries, the event was held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Muay Thai is a combat sport that utilises eight different parts of the body (fists, elbows, knees and shins) and Dainton, who took up the sport aged just 5 years, was undefeated on his way to the final and winning Gold.
Training at Celtic Pride Martial Arts in Abertillery, he has won many awards and travelled the World, but this was by far his best achievement to date.
