Stanley Gwynfryn Thayer
South Wales Argus: Monday 28th November 1960
Despite the headline referring to “Newport man’s son”, the report rightly describes Stanley Gwynfryn Thayer as the son of Llanhilleth born, Methodist Minister, Stanley Thayer, who emigrated from Wales to the United States in the 1920’s, with his wife Gwenllian.
The photographs show Gwyn, as he was known to his family and friends, later in life and during his military service during the Second World War and the Korean conflict and his wife Marie.
The first document shows the South Wales Argus report and the second is an extract from this site’s post “Son of Llanhilleth’s Mission to USA”, which details the story of Gwyn and his father and contains more images. We are grateful to Gwen Thayer Handelman, Gwyn’s daughter, for all the details and photographs.
