World Record Holder and Fitness Supremo
In March 2024, Ged Musto’s latest achievement in a long and distinguished career, particularly in the fitness and endurance world, was acknowledged when the “Best of the Best” magazine named him as “2023/2024 Fitness Trainer of the Year” from the 1200 other trainers considered.
His other achievements include: –
- 1997: Represented Great Britain in the European Arm-Wrestling Championships in Slovakia, reaching the quarter finals from 128 other competitors. In 1987 and 1988 represented Munster in the prestigious German Arm-Wrestling League.
- 1999: World’s Fittest Man with 4 World and 7 British Stamina and Endurance Bests, including a World’s best of 2467 press ups in 1 hour in 1994 and 2908 Sit-Ups in One Hour at Leominster Leisure Centre in 1999.
- 2005: Represented Great Britain in the European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, competing in the 69kg category and finished 4th out of 44 competitors.
- His athletic contributions included, Newport Harriers, Thames Valley Harriers (under Linford Christie), representing the Army and Combined Services. While rugby clubs who benefited from his expertise Christ College Brecon First XV, London Saracens, Luctonians, Reading, Abertillery, Blackwood.
- Following his military career, he became involved in the security sector, which included giving a presentation in the White House, Washington, USA, for which he received a commendation from Congressmen Robert Andrews, and conducting a security assessment for the South Jersey Port Corporation, resulting a similar commendation from its Executive Director & CEO, Joseph A. Balzano. He was also part of the UK protection team at the G8 Summit held in Birmingham in 1998.
- His personal fitness clients include Hugh Grant, Sir Lenny Henry, Robert Plant, Monty Don, Philip Scofield and Joanne Whalley-Kilmer.
- He also provided security protection to, amongst others: Deputy Prime Minister of Oman, Sir John Paul Getty Jnr and Bill Gates.
The son of Mike and Pam Musto, Ged was born and lived his early years in Hafod y Coed, Llanhilleth, until the family moved to the Mount Pleasant Estate, Brynithel.
